Meet John
John, Jemsite’s most senior project manager, was raised in a Navy family and lived in Virginia, The Azores, California, Maryland, and Arkansas before settling in North Carolina, where his family roots are. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 2000 with his degree in Geography and Community and Regional Planning which gave way to his relevant professional experience in city, county, and residential planning and development.
In 2003, John was made Jemsite’s first project manager and has since successfully led various projects, providing a delicate balance of intellectual vision and lighthearted humor. His most notable work for Jemsite has been on more than 1 million square feet of turnkey development for Lowe's Home Centers, where he has taken multiple projects from land acquisition to key turnover. Affiliations with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the American Planning Organization (APA) have granted John opportunities to substantially grow Jemsite’s national footprint.
Currently, John resides in West Jefferson, NC and enjoys spending time with his daughter Maggie (a student at Appalachian State) and other friends and family, his involvement with Highlands Community Church, and various outdoor activities including hiking, bird hunting, shooting, and fishing.
Meet David
Born and raised in Ashe County, David has worked hard to create opportunities that have kept him close to home. In 2000, he received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Drafting and Design from Appalachian State University. In 2002, Dave was offered a position at Vannoy Construction. It wasn’t long before he showed promise in Jemsite’s ventures and took on a role as Project Manager.
Since he stepped into that role, David has shown level-headed, quick thinking in every aspect of his work. He builds relationships and credibility by staying calm and persistent. The majority of Dave’s work has been on fee development projects, specifically with Lowe’s Home Centers and Murphy Oil. Most notably, he took the lead on Jemsite’s more complicated Lowe’s projects in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas which became some of the company’s most successful developments.
As a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), David has made valuable connections with clients and business partners alike who have hugely contributed to Jemsite’s growth and success.
When he’s not at his desk, Dave can be found spending time with his wife Ashley and two beautiful daughters, Adeline and Lanie. Taking full advantage of the vast offering of outdoor activities his home county has to offer, he loves hunting, fishing, running or any kind exercise, and coaching youth sports.
Meet Melvin
Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Melvin attended NC State University and graduated in 2000 with his BS in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. Upon graduation, he spent almost a year and a half with Wilkie Construction as an Assistant Project Manager before taking a position as Project Manager at Matthews Construction for just over 4 years.
In September of 2005, Melvin joined Jemsite as a Project Manager and has since provided a well-rounded combination of intellect, experience, and relationship development to each project he has touched. With a gift for good-natured conversation, he inherently manages to find someone he knows everywhere he goes.
In his spare time, Melvin cherishes time spent with his far superior better half, Stephanie, and three kids, Raylee, Ada, and Lincoln. Passionate about anything outdoors, his hobbies include hunting, fishing, traditional archery, golf, and attempting to stay in shape. When he’s not traveling or trying new restaurants with his wife, he loves cooking and considers himself a foodie. Melvin is also actively involved in the Alliance Bible Fellowship and is Chairman of the Grace Academy School Board of Directors, both in Boone.
Meet Doug
Doug came to Jemsite Development in February 2006 with more than 24 years of professional experience.
