Doug came to Jemsite Development in February 2006 with more than 24 years of professional experience. After graduating from NC State University with a BS in Civil Engineering, he pursued his Master’s in Public Affairs from Western Carolina University, a combination that led him to serve his local government as Town Engineer, Assistant City Manager, and eventually, City Manager.
Since joining Jemsite, he has worked on a variety of retail projects. Exceptional organizational and analytical skills are Doug's strengths. His most notable contribution has been the oversight of a turnkey 30,900 sf Walmart shadow-anchored retail center in Elkin, NC, including working directly with tenants on specific upfit requirements as well as assuming the role of property manager. Being the company’s sole NC-Licensed Real Estate Broker (# 251734), he has also taken the lead in coordinating the marketing and sales of Jemsite’s outparcels and real estate.
Not only does Doug bring experience to the team, but he is also an NC-Registered Professional Engineer (NCPE# 013040), a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the Rotary Club of the Jeffersons.
Away from the office, Doug spends time with his wife (Amy) and two children (Paige and Jordan, both currently attending North Carolina universities), and enjoys distance running, hiking, biking, banjo, and woodworking.
